Cuckoo Clock, 2007
Video 2’40”
1949. Isolated in a gondola of the Riesenrad Giant Ferris Wheel of post-war Vienna. Human dots in a fiction film. The dividing line between image and reality disintegrates together with the disintegration of the ideal of progress.
2000+. Isolated in the cockpit of an Apache attack helicopter. Human dots in “live” broadcast. The dividing line between image and reality disintegrates on a monitor. Sunk into its geopolitical paranoia, humanity is heading towards the totalitarianism of the camera.
A camera which captures as an image the absolutely real moment of death.
