Title: Actors

Actors was played out over a period of seven hours in front of a fixed camera set up. The actors improvised and were given only a few instructions about the development of their character. During their stay in this room, they meet each other, in reality too, for the first time.

I try to make use of their acting and improvisation talents as well as their own personalities.

I let the various aspects of reality in this room merge together, so they interfere with one another. The actors, the soldiers, the boys, the performers, the memories, the fiction all play a role in an attempt to reveal the layered nature of a word like identity.

The three successive phases isolation, interaction, and exposure- can be read both forwards and backwards. The non-linear nature of Actors is further underlined in the installation, that I created from the video registration.

Actors is a video installation based on an improvised performance.

About IMCA

IMCA is both a virtual and itinerant Independent Museum of Contemporary Art founded by NeMe in order to present exhibitions, performances, new media events, symposia etc. The form of the IMCA is determined as a practice or process by the nature of each project with the notion of the exhibition "space" being constantly revised and redefined.
